At the end of the last post I was unsure if I liked the sleeves for Shaped Lace Tee because I was unable to follow the lace pattern as I cast off stitches while I shaped the sleeve.  I decided to knit a sleeve with the vine lace pattern at the bottom for 6 rows and the rest of sleeve is done in stockinette following the pattern.  Here are the results:

I decided the sew in the sleeves that are part of the pattern because it didn’t seem as bad after blocking (funny how the washing machine washes away certain knitting problems).  I must say I LOVE final product.  I wore it work over a long sleeve shirt and it looked really nice.  I still think this tee looks best with a wife beater underneath.  I can hardly wait for Spring/Summer to really here so I can show this gorgeous garmet off.  I like it so much I am thinking about making one in yellow.  Stay tuned!

Well, I broke the challenge to only knit from my stash for 6 months - that didn’t take long.  I kept trying to come up with a project for some chocolate brown camel hair yarn that I bought on sale (it’s super soft!) and either the style wasn’t right for that yarn or I didn’t have enough.  So it stays in the basement.  I bought that book “Knitting Lingerie Style” (the men refer to it as “Knitting Porn”) and have wanted to make several projects from it since opening it.  I decided to the knit the “Shaped Lace Tee”  because I have conquered my fear of yarnovers and lace patterns in my last project, and I realized they aren’t so bad and the final project is nothing less than stunning.

I had some problems - mainly that I can’t count (hey I’m a liberal arts major!) and made a small instead of a medium on the back and had to rip it out and start over.   I also made two changes to the pattern.  First, instead of knitting the vine lace pattern 2 inches from the arm hole on the front of the tee, I knitted the vine lace pattern for 3 inches because I don’t want to wear anything that low cut.  Second, I added two stitches to make it a little wider because I don’t like tight clothing and since I run on the cold side I will have to wear another shirt under the tee for the sake of staying warm.  At this point I’m waiting for the tee to dry/finish blocking.  I’m not sure if I like how the sleeves turned out.  It’s hard to continue in the lace pattern while decreasing.  I am thinking about knitting sleeves with just the vine lace at the bottom and then rest in stockinette.  I will post the pictures on-line for those trying to decide looking for a visual to help them out with this idea.
